BACKGROUND

Riverbeds and aquifers consisting of sandy soils function as ‘sand reservoirs’ which collect water and act as water-rich storage sources which effectively maintain saturated levels as it is not exposed to direct sunlight and thus not subjected to evaporation or migration. Water is usually extracted by manually digging into such soil whereafter water filters into the excavated area.  The SWE System can extract the water from the sand at a rate dependent on the soil coarseness and the capacity of the pumps, but the extraction rate can be over 10 times that of the normal infiltration rate of the surrounding medium. No other water extraction device has the capacity to match the extraction volume of the SWE system or offers any of its other advantages like algae control, minimal costs of purification, system costs or installation speed.

SWE SYSTEM APPLICATIONS

SUPPLY FOR TOWNS AND CITIES

  1. The size of the system is determined by the needs of the end user and the potential of the source, be it for drought intervention or to increase the capacity of existing water supply;

  2. The water requires minimum purification (Chlorine gas to eliminate any bacteria),   resulting in huge savings in purification plants and excluding the need for costly chemicals required for the purification of surface water pumped from rivers and storage dams.

FARMING IRRIGATION

Water can be supplied for personal use, irrigation and/or for livestock;

These systems can be powered by standard power supply or by using solar power

SOLAR SYSTEMS FOR RURAL AREAS

  1. These systems can be powered by standard power supply or by using solar power;

  2. The water can be pumped into holding tanks for easy and quick access by the community

RAW WATER TO DESALINATION PLANTS

The SWE System can be installed in the beach sand and extract seawater for a desalination plant

The water has significantly lower biological material,  turbidity and sand content than water extracted from the surface which reduces the operating cost of the RO Plants

The patented SWE System is an ideal system to extract water from sand or other water-bearing mediums. The design is one of the most effective and cost-efficient ways to extract water from sand.

The unique patented design allows the units to be completely submerged under the sand which allows year-round water extraction irrespective of the level of water in the river.

The design allows water to be extracted from the sand at rates up to 10 times faster than the standard infiltration rate of the sand.

  • Extraction of water from sources previously unobtainable in large quantities;

  • Supply of sediment-free water;

  • No dams constructed to collect water within rivers;

  • Low maintenance and automated systems and proper training and after-sales service;

  • System quick and easy to install and cost-effective;

  • Solar powered systems can be used in remote areas;

  • Concealed system and well protected against flood damage and theft;

  • Can extract water even during floods;

  • Water can be delivered to a central collection reservoir or holding tanks;

  • Irrigation of crops throughout the year with non-polluted water can be realized;

  • Sand filtration results in significant bacterial reduction and decreased purification costs.
